So many lovely memories.... but here's a memory from one of my friend and mum-out-law Betty's visits to us up in Scotland. It was coming up to Dundee Flower Show, and I had to come up with a theme for a display garden to go with my plant sales stand. With Betty around, what else but Time for Tea - a celebration of all the plants that can be made into tea and their attributes? She seemed to love getting involved with our garden shows, and we had a wonderful day trawling the many charity shops in Perth to buy up teapots of every shape and size. She triumphed by finding a Chinese style pot with delicate cups and saucers to match - the centrepiece of the garden. (I recall lots of other bits and pieces getting bought up too!) For the backdrop, Betty helped me draw and cut out an enormous teapot shape which we painted (blue I think). On the set up day, we installed everything, with all the tea plants looking good and labelled up with what ailments you'd use them for. Plenty of opportunities to get the kettle on - and a nice cuppa when the work was done. What else?

I'll always remember her love of roast dinners. She loved cooking them and also being a guest for one! Food played a big part in her life as it did for all the lear family!
